[Background]
Jonathan Mar is a child soldier from West Asia. His life prior to becoming a child soldier is left ambiguous. Along with few other orphans, he was stationed at a military base. There, he was a protector for the kids and acted as their big brother figure. However, when one of the kids named Marika was used to test the landmines and died consequentially, Jonah hid away the kids and single-handedly killed every personn in the base in order to avenge Marika and protect the remaining children.
But he was shortly apprehended after killing the last man by Kesper Hekmatyar's team and he learned from the arm's dealer himself that all was for nothing. Kesper had planned to destroy the base anyway to build a road that will help his business. Jonah realized then that his friend had died for a road, that he had killed the people he had called comrades for a road. This crushed the boy's spirit. To make things worse, Kesper locked him away in a container with only water for days to test Jonah. Jonah miraculously survived, and the first thing Kesper did was apologize, not for locking him up, but for being indirectly involved with the destruction of Jonah's village. Kesper was the man who sold the weapons that killed his parents. Fortunately, he had taken liking to Jonah and proposed a deal. Kesper will ensure the safety of remaining children and in return, Jonah will work as a bodyguard for his sister, Koko Hekmatyar. Jonah accepted.
That's how he started working for Koko Hekmatyar, an arms dealer. As they travel around the world, he tries to understand the world he is involved in as well as the people he is surrounded by.

[Personality]
At first glance, Jonah is your typical stoic and silent character. Although he doesn't like partaking in overly complicated jobs, he is very good at what he does and shows no hesitation when shooting at his enemies during combat situations. When he does speak, he likes to get to the point, short and concise.
However, it is safe to say that that's his soldier persona. Inside that shell is a kid who has yet to fully grow up. He laughs at childish things (i.e. dolls), he likes to go adventuring on big ships and establish his own "secret base," and he has child-like curiosities. He is afraid of shots, more than surgeries even, and he runs away from his math and science lessons. He gets annoyed when adults give him roundabout answers and treat him like a child. He gets flustered by Koko's rather questionably flirtatious lines ("You're mine Jonah. Don't forget that"). He also gets uncomfortable with physical intimacy. Like any boy in his age would.
But his most defining quality is his compassion. After all, the whole purpose of taking the job of the bodyguard was to ensure the safety of the kids he was taking care of. Kesper even comments that it is not in his nature to fight. Although he usually conceals this part of his personality, it rears its head from time to time. For example, when he was faced with another child soldier working for some pirates, he clearly hesitated and instead of killing him, he apprehended him.
However, just because he is kind doesn't mean he is without his issues. He has great dislike for guns and arms dealers. He thinks that weapons make people do bad things, that they can turn a good person into a murder. Which ironically contradicts with Koko's 'weapons don't kill, people do' theology. He also loathes Kesper for selling the weapons that killed his parents and the horrible treatment he put him through (the whole imprisoning him in a container thing). Jonah will attempt to kill him unless there are special circumstances.
Initially, he was very distant towards Koko and her squad because of the incident at the mountain base. However, the "ice," as Koko puts it, has started melting and he became a valid member of the team. He respect other member of the squad and show concern for Koko on numerous occasions. Although he can't help but wonder what kind of scheme Koko is stirring up and if she could really be trusted.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Jonah's soldier instinct is almost akin to that of an animal. Because his major area of operation has been the mountain terrain, he can sense his enemies rather than see them. He can use wide range of weapons as well, namely assault rifles, submachine guns, and pistols. He also variety tactical tricks up his sleeves and often uses them against his enemies. Ambushes, traps - guerrilla type of warfare is his strength.
[Affection] Anything platonic is totally fine as well as puppy love. Jonah might have stoic facade going on, but he forms attachments pretty quickly and he'll come to like you eventually.
[Fighting] Fighting and light injuries are okay, but anything above that, could you please talk to me? He isn't the type to invoke fights, but he will fight if provoked. Granted, I don't think he'll fight if he's at great disadvantage and might lose his life.
[Other Permissions] You can be intrusive as you want, but please give me heads-up first so I won't freak out. uvu;;;
[Other Facts]
(1) He has a bullet in one of his buttocks, which can set off metal detectors.
(2) Canon-wise, he seems to have pretty good looks. Several women called him cute.
(3) His cooking is horrible (what did you expect), but he can get them without a problem.
